The city was founded on October 1, 1986. As of April 1, 2011, the city has an estimated population of 54,444, with 21,449 households and a population density of 1,603.658 persons per km². The total area is 33.95 km². ==Famous place== Gongendo Tsutsumi ((日本語:権現堂堤)) is located in Satte. It is a noted place in Saitama, and a prefectural park. About 1,000 Yoshino cherry trees are spread out over 1 km along the top of the levee of the Gongendo river. During cherry blossom season, many visitors from all over the prefecture and beyond come to enjoy the picturesque pink and yellow of cherry and rapeseed blossoms, and vendors set up stalls.
